You don’t really need a map or a compass, but you do have new route choices if you are out on the bog at Campfield RSPB reserve. A new boardwalk junction has appeared giving access to a brand new section of boardwalk leading north and east; opening up access to the bog and an area of wet birch and then down the eastern edge of the reserve. You can continue back the Wetlands Centre via the bridge designed by young people on last year’s Solway Nature Explorers programme and a new route through the Campfield farm reserve.
Some areas of the route off the boardwalk are still a bit wet and muddy where construction machinery has been passing, so wear wellies or leave it a few weeks until the reserve team have made some repairs.
This is the first of several new developments on the reserve including new circular routes and a new Family Discovery Zone including a wildlife pond. We will keep you in touch with developments through our website and our social media channels, or head out to the reserve and explore for yourself.
See you on the bog!
