A varied programme of sessions for groups has been held at different sites:
- The Solway Wetlands Centre at RSPB Campfield Marsh Reserve at Bowness on Solway has an education room and toilets as well as footpaths, boardwalks and wildlife hides. A wetland discovery area was created over winter 2013/2014 to provide an excellent learning environment for young people and families.
- In partnership with Natural England, we have run a schools programme in the summer term, with schools taking part in a whole range of workshops over a single day based around discovery the wild creatures of Finglandrigg Wood National Nature Reserve. Workshops were led by reserve managers, education staff and local farmers so the children have had the opportunity to meet a variety of people working in the countryside and have a fun, creative and educational experience.
- We have run a mini schools programme at Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery based around the museum collections and the local wildlife displays in the museum galleries. Children have had the opportunity to scientifically examine objects from the museum stores and use the exhibitions to find out more about the Solway wetlands wildlife.
Please contact us if you are interested in your school or group being involved. Topics covered include:
