Park at the Solway Wetlands Centre car park at RSPB Campfield Marsh, 1.5 miles west of Bowness on Solway. After you have explored the Centre, head down the drive turning left along the quiet road and following it along the edge of the saltmarsh and the Solway estuary. Look out for hundreds of wetland birds, especially in the autumn and winter, the radio masts at Anthorn, the blueprint of the western frontier of Hadrian’s Wall, and huge expanses of lowland raised bog which you can stop off at along the way to explore.
